AFL only on PlayStation

Sydney, 3 April 2006 – Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Aust.) and the Australian Football League (AFL) today announced the signing of a two year licensing agreement which will see SCE Aust., as the exclusive publisher of AFL video games.

SCE Aust. is also pleased to announce the video game title - AFL Premiership 2006 exclusively for PlayStation®2, officially licensed by Australian Football League, due for release in July this year. Benefiting from the new deal signed with the AFL, the franchise is now exclusive to SCE Aust. across all PlayStation® products for the next two years.

Managing Director of SCE Aust. and New Zealand, Michael Ephraim, said "This two year exclusive relationship is the basis for a very exciting partnership between the Australia’s leading football code and the global leader of the video game industry. Together, I believe we will create a fantastic range of products for the PlayStation 2 and also the PlayStation Portable in time for the 2007 AFL season.”

The continued support of the AFL has allowed IR Gurus Interactive to develop a game that closely reflects the action of the AFL Season with unparalleled accuracy and recreation of players, clubs, competitions and venues. The 2006 game will feature stunning graphical improvements, alongside additional game modes and features; all adding up to ensure a high quality offering with the next iteration of the franchise.

Gillon McLachlan, the AFL’s General Manager – Commercial operations said “The AFL is Australia's number one spectator sport and we are excited to partner with Sony Computer Entertainment Australia as our goal is to assist in delivering Australia’s number one sports simulation game.”

“This is our second year of integrated activity with the AFL with last year being our inaugural year as an official sponsor of the umpires. Commercial benefits of the relationship have been proven and this license deal solidifies SCE Australia’s already strong relationship with the AFL.” Michael Ephraim.

The PlayStation 2 game AFL 2006 will be available in winter 2006.

X-MEN: THE LAST STAND MOVIE TRAILER - YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!

Click here to check out this amazing trailer! 'Nuff Said!

In X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, the climax of the “X-Men” motion picture trilogy, a “cure” for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers and become human. The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Magneto, who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test – triggering the war to end all wars.

Within the framework of an epic, action-packed story, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND raises issues with strong contemporary relevance: Is conformity an antidote to prejudice? Is it cowardice to give up individuality to fit in and avoid persecution? Do ends justify means? Is great power a blessing or a curse?

X-MEN: THE LAST STAND reunites all the stars of the first two X-Men films: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Halle Berry as Storm, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Xavier, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, Anna Paquin as Rogue , Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman. Reprising their X2 roles are Aaron Stanford as Pyro and Daniel Cudmore as Colossus.

Kelsey Grammer joins the X-MEN: THE LAST STAND cast as Dr. Henry McCoy, also known as Beast. McCoy is a highly intelligent geneticist, a mutant endowed with superhuman agility and physical prowess. As the subject of one of his own experiments, McCoy mutated further, growing blue, bestial fur.

Vinnie Jones plays the unstoppable strongman Juggernaut, and Ellen Page portrays Kitty Pride, also known as Shadowcat, a young woman possessing the ability to pass through solid matter by “phasing.” Ben Foster plays Warren Worthington III, or Angel, whose bird-like wings endow him with the gift of flight. Michael Murphy is Warren Worthington, Sr., Angel’s father, whose distress over his son’s mutant powers leads him to spearhead the “cure.”

Also joining the cast are Dania Ramirez as Callisto, whose highly attuned senses allow her to locate and assess the power of other mutants; Eric Dane as Multiple Man, who can create exact physical replicas of himself; Cameron Bright as the power dampener Leech; Olivia Williams as Dr. Moira McTaggert, one of the world’s leading authorities on genetic mutation and Xavier’s longtime colleague and confidante; and Shohreh Aghdashloo as geneticist Dr.Kavita Rao.

Brett Ratner, who established a motion picture franchise with “Rush Hour,” and expanded the “Silence of the Lambs” franchise with “Red Dragon,” directs X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.

The producers are Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter, who also produced the first two X-Men films. Avi Arad and comics legend and X-Men co-creator Stan Lee are executive producers. The screenplay is by Zak Penn & Simon Kinberg.
