Take a piece of the game home – AFL Premiership 2006 for PS2

SYDNEY, 26 May 2006 – Expanding on the success of the 2005 AFL Premiership game for PlayStation®2, Melbourne based IR Gurus, have taken full advantage of a two year exclusive agreement between Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and the Australian Football League (AFL) to develop the only officially endorsed video game of the AFL. This agreement allows the highest quality of development for an AFL game ever to go into production. The game is currently in the final stages of creation and will be ready for launch in July 2006.

The respective AFL ovals and stadiums have been improved and in some cases totally overhauled to feature the latest advertisers, stands and fittings. One of Australia's most familiar stadiums, the MCG, was last year under massive re-construction to prepare for the Commonwealth Games. The MCG in AFL Premiership 2006 is now complete and exactly represents the current stadium architecture.

Justin Halliday, Producer of AFL 2006 elaborated, "Working with the AFL license is a double edged sword, bringing with it many benefits and also many development challenges as we strive to replicate such a complex sporting code. We have the privilege of including all the official teams, players, and statistics, and we have the task of capturing the excitement and fast action of Australia's number one spectator sport to produce the highest quality PlayStation 2 video game."

The development team have worked tirelessly to strengthen existing game modes and create some entirely new features for AFL Premiership 2006. An example is player and team development. These features have been completely enhanced, allowing you to spot a strong player on the field and nurture their abilities to create an AFL super-star of tomorrow. You can also make those all important post season adjustments to your team by drafting players or by trading your players or draft picks for an existing player from another team. AFL 2006 finally puts you in the role of an AFL coach as you make the key decisions that will impact the performance of your favourite team.
